Background
After completing 13 years of teaching, I was called to serve at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2019. Having the opportunity to share my passion for education - using music as the vehicle - with future music educators as well as all of the students in my ensembles and courses brings a smile to my face each day. Family is a blessing, and my wife, Amy, and I have been blessed with four children who keep us busy at home. We enjoy worshipping with our home congregation, Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Hubertus.
Teaching
Before coming to Wisconsin Lutheran College, I enjoyed teaching middle school choir, general music, and band. Additionally, I had the pleasure of teaching high school concert bands, jazz band, and musical pits, and assisting with nationally competitive high school marching bands and independent competitive winter drumline. Since coming to WLC, I have enjoyed teaching instrumental ensembles such as the Concert Band, Jazz Band, and various chamber ensembles. In addition, I enjoy teaching courses in Music Theory, Music Arranging, and Advanced Conducting as well as Music Education coursework.
Research Interests
The intersection of motivation and musical performance is of particular interest to me.
