Date posted: October 10, 2013

MILWAUKEE – On October 7, Joel Mischke, who most recently served WLC as Dean of Student Success, was called home to heaven. WLC celebrates the gift of Joel's many years of service to the college and the impact he had on so many students' lives. You can learn more about Joel by clicking here.

Family, friends, and WLC's campus community will gather in the college's Recreation Complex (REX) on Friday, October 11 to celebrate Joel's life of Christian service. Visitation will take place starting at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. For those who are unable to attend, streaming video of the funeral service will be provided by the college.

In partnership with Joel's family, Wisconsin Lutheran College has established the Joel P. Mischke 'Helper' Scholarship to benefit returning WLC students who demonstrate promise via academic performance, leadership, service, and spiritual maturity. Student retention was one of Joel's college responsibilities, and his heart has always been one of encouragement and persistence related to student success.
