WLC Winter Band Concert set for December 7

MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band will present its annual winter concert on Friday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the Schwan Concert Hall.

The program of Christmas music will include the Appalachian folk carol Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head, and an exciting Robert Longfield rendition of Angels We Have Heard On High, titled And the Mountains Echoed: Gloria! 

The first half of the concert will include two compositions by English composer Philip Lane: Wassail Dances and Overture on French Carols. Austrian composer Thomas Doss's Christmas in the Alps includes a beautiful arrangement of Silent Night.

Two medleys in the second portion of the program will include such Christmas favorites as We Wish You a Merry Christmas, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Master of This Hall, and We Three Kings. The concert will conclude with a rendition of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 West Wisconsin Ave. Tickets are $6 general, $5 for senior citizens, and $3 for students. To purchase tickets, call the WLC box office at 414.443.8802 or visit wlc.edu/arts.
