The Vision to Lead Campaign

June 30, 2012, marked the conclusion of the Vision to Lead comprehensive campaign with more than $52.7 million raised, surpassing the goal of $46 million. The initial phase of the campaign began in 2004, and resulted in funding for numerous capital improvements and for academic program development. The final, public phase of the campaign launched in 2010 with a calibrated focus on four areas of institutional need: scholarship support, academic enhancements, the endowment fund, and the annual fund.

Some of the campaign's key accomplishments were:

  • A record enrollment of more than 1,000 students for the first time in college history, and significant scholarship assistance ($9 million annually) for these students.
  • The establishment of the School of Nursing, and the graduation of the first class of Christian nurses from WLC.
  • The formation and development of the College of Adult and Graduate Studies.
  • Expansion of degree programs to include majors such as environmental science, computer science, media design, and more – to prepare students for 21st century careers.

Funds received as part of the campaign included more than $6.1 million in gifts to Generac Hall and to the Outdoor Athletic Center. "We thank and praise God for these blessings, and for our faithful, generous partners who have supported WLC in this campaign," said President Daniel W. Johnson.
