Merit Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships are awarded to traditional undergraduate students for academic achievement and merit based upon their success in high school and on the ACT or SAT. For scholarships that have a priority application date, students admitted after that date will be considered on a space-available and funds-available basis.

Merit Awards from Wisconsin Lutheran College

WLC's Merit Awards - the Presidential Scholarship, Academic Scholarship, and Collegiate Scholarship - are mutually exclusive, and students must be admitted by April 1 for full Merit Award consideration.

PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
$15,000 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 27 or an SAT score of 1210 AND have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.70 are eligible to receive a $15,000 Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.00 at WLC, for a lifetime value of $60,000.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
$12,000 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 23 or an SAT score of 1060 AND have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.30 are eligible to receive a $12,000 Academic Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.75 at WLC, for a lifetime value of $48,000.

COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIP
$10,000 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen who have a composite ACT score of at least 21 or an SAT score of 980 OR have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.70 are eligible to receive a $10,000 Collegiate Scholarship. This scholarship is renewable each year for students who remain in good standing at WLC, for a lifetime value of $40,000.

 

Fine Arts Scholarships from Wisconsin Lutheran College

ART SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional artistic ability are encouraged to apply for a $1,000 Art Scholarship, renewable each year for a lifetime value of $4,000. Apply by February 9, 2015.

MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $3,360 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional musical ability are encouraged to apply and audition for a Music Scholarship. This scholarship, with an annual value of up to $3,360, is renewable each year for a lifetime value of up to $13,440. Apply by February 9, 2015.

THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 per year for four years

Incoming freshmen and transfer students with exceptional dramatic ability are encouraged to apply and audition for a $1,000 Theatre Scholarship, renewable each year for a lifetime value of $4,000. Apply by February 21, 2015.

 

Christian Education Scholarships from Wisconsin Lutheran College

PARTNERS IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 per year for four years

Available to incoming freshmen who attend a Christian high school and continue their education at WLC. The $1,000 Partners in Christian Education Scholarship is renewable each year, for a lifetime value of $4,000.

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000 per year for four years

Available to recipients of the Partners in Christian Education Scholarship who also attend a Christian Leadership Summit at WLC. The $1,000 Christian Leadership Summit Scholarship is renewable each year, for a lifetime value of $4,000.

 

Special Scholarships from Wisconsin Lutheran College

HONORS SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000

First-time, full-time freshmen accepted into the Honors Program receive a $1,000 scholarship.

HOMESCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
$1,000

First-time, full-time freshmen who were homeschooled for high school receive a $1,000 scholarship.

 

Transfer Awards from Wisconsin Lutheran College

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP
Up to $8,000 per year, renewable

Incoming students with 18 or more transferrable credits with a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.00 receive the Level I scholarship of $7,000. Those students with a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.50 receive the Level II scholarship of $8,000. Transfer scholarships are renewable each year as long as the student is maintaining satisfactory progress at WLC.

TRANSFER GRANT
$5,000

A $5,000 grant program for full-time sophomores, juniors, or seniors who transfer with a cumulative college GPA of 2.50 or higher. The Transfer Grant and Transfer Scholarship are mutually exclusive.

 

Other Scholarships

WISCONSIN ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
from the State of Wisconsin and WLC

A $2,250 scholarship is available for valedictorians of Wisconsin high schools. One-half of the scholarship is funded by the State of Wisconsin and the other half by the college.

SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
available from a variety of sources

Donors and foundations provide annual funds for special scholarships for upperclassmen. Recipients are recommended by the academic department and approved by the financial aid committee. These donors/scholarships include WAICU, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Lands' End, Sentry Insurance, UPS, WELSmen, the Didaskolos Scholarship, and the Nikolas Bourbaki Scholarship.
